Habitat: high-elevation conifer forests near melting snowbanks

Cap 4– 6 cm across, convex with a dome or low bump in center; smooth, greasy; brown, orange-brown, olive-brown, drying lighter; margin covered with yellow tissue when young. Gills attached, pale yellowish orange becoming orange-brown; covered with thin yellow cobwebby veil at first. Stalk 4– 6 × 1– 1.5 cm, equal or slightly larger at the base; smooth; watery whitish pale brown; with lemon-yellow veil covering the lower part or only as bits of yellow tissue on stipe. Flesh watery pale brown; odor not distinctive. Spore print brown.
